Альянсы и партнерства существуют уже давно, но наше понимание этих институтов все еще остается на уровне их зарождения. Чтобы гарантировать фирме, что она получит от совместных усилий именно то, на что надеется, необходимо детальное понимание этого вопроса. Согласно оценкам, около половины всех альянсов оказываются неуспешными. Провалы в достижении желаемых целей могут означать напрасную трату ресурсов для компаний-участников. Для определенных фирм значительные потери могут иметь разрушительные последствия, иногда даже угрожающие самому их существованию. Отношение к сотрудничеству с точки зрения «все или ничего» также может быть опасным. Высокая степень неудач подчеркивает необходимость развития посредством понимания механизмов структурирования, функционирования и управления альянсами.
Альянсы позволяют компаниям сфокусироваться на своей основной деятельности, где они могут разработать и поддерживать конкурентные преимущества или основную компетенцию. Дефицитные ресурсы можно использовать под усиленным вниманием в приоритетных сферах. Узконаправленное сотрудничество содержит в себе большой потенциал с точки зрения создания фирмами устойчивых конкурентных преимуществ (Anderson and Narus, 1991; Baker and Faulkner, 1991; Dyer et al, 1998; Kapoor and Gupta, 1997). Разбросанные и разнотипные усилия являются верным рецептом провала в сложившихся условиях бизнес-среды. Сотрудничество и взаимная зависимость могут внести свой вклад в независи-
мость компании, позволив ей использовать области компетенции других фирм в своих личных целях. Альянсы поставщиков и покупателей должны строиться с долгосрочными перспективами, со стремлением создать в дальнейшем прочные взаимоотношения, основанные на доверии и командном духе. Построение сетей и создание расширенных организаций, создающих дополнительную стоимость и внутренне, и внешне, являет собой важнейшую предпосылку будущего успеха в бизнесе (Hakansson and Sharma, 1996).
Ученые и эксперты по маркетингу начинают вносить свой вклад в эту сферу, в частности, формулируя теоретические положения, из которых логически следуют нормативные предписания. Построение моделей в маркетинге (Lilien et al, 1992) помогает понять деловые взаимоотношения (Wilson, 1995) и имеет значительный потенциал для дальнейших исследований альянсов в будущем.
Понятия и идеи, обсужденные выше, приводят к успеху альянсов, если их применять чрезвычайно тщательно и адаптировать к конкретным специфическим потребностям. В частности, наша цель состояла в том, чтобы предложить некоторую сбалансированную точку зрения, как на преимущества, так и на недостатки альянсов, — менеджеры должны принимать это во внимание при создании альянсов. Необходим выборочный подход, поскольку ориентация на взаимоотношения не является панацеей от всех проблем. Любой альянс по-своему уникален. Здесь не существует универсальных формул успеха, но некоторые предложенные в настоящей статье директивы и подходы могут значительно повысить шансы на успех, будучи исполненными, в соответствии с потребностями конкретного альянса.
