Choose the correct word in the description of a walking tour of central Lisbon.
Lisbon is Europe’s westernmost capital and it’s the perfect place for a walk.
As a starting point, get a view of the city by taking the Santa Justa Elevator, a lift designed by Eiffel. After you’ve taken in the view, go along / down the elevator and walk in down / up through the central hub, Rossio Square, to the railway station of the same name. Jump on / over the Funicular Gloria to save yourself the heart-challenging hike in from / up to the Barrio Alto (or ‘high quarter’). You will bring / come to the Mirador de Sao Pedro de Alcantara, with excellent views east across the city. From here, take / turn left through Baixa’s pedestrian shopping district to Comercio Square in / on the waterfront (location of Lisbon’s central tourist office). Hike through / up the hill to the city’s Secathedral and the Castelo Sao Jorge, the nucleus of ancient Lisbon. Finally, get / head downhill to the Largo das Portas do Sol for a well-earned beer at one of the many cafes overlooking the red roof tops of the Alfama.
