CULTURE AND EDUCATION

1. In Belarus there are over 5.5 thousand libraries, 5.2 thousand clubs, 139 museums, 24 professional theatres including the Opera and Ballet Theatre, 13 concert organizations with 6 philarmonies. Apart from professional organizations of culture a great role in Belarusian cultural life is played by amateur art groups and organizations. Folklore groups with folk dances and songs in their repertoire are very popular in Belarus.

2. One of the most important aspects of cultural life is the existence of professional theatres which embody the bright images and events of Belarusian history in drama, music and ballet. The rich Belarusian poetry, literature and drama is admired by good-hearted Belarusian audiences that like to sing, write poems and actively influence the cultural life.

3. Belarus is a country with a high education level. The Total number of students every year is about 2.4 million (nearly 25% of the population). In Belarus there are more than 40 higher education establishments including Universities, 149 specialized comprehensive educational establishments, 5.1 thousand various schools including primary and secondary ones. Among the secondary schools there are grammar schools, lyceums and colleges.

4. A grammar school is an educational establishment of the general comprehensive education system that provides the realization of state demands to education in combination with the higher educational level, specializing in the humanities and culture. A grammar school is organized IB the range of 5^th – 11^th (12^th) forms. The term of education is 7 (8) years. Grammar school can have preparatory forms (1^st to 4^th)

5. A college is an educational establishment in the framework of professional education providing high-level specialized comprehensive education integrated with the general one.

Secondary education in Belarus is compulsory. The state guarantee general secondary and technical secondary education for free to every of its citizens. Specialized secondary and higher education is available for everyone according to his abilities any citizen can get free education on any level in state educational establishments.

Культура и образование

1. В Беларуси около 5.5 тысяч библиотек, 5.2 тысяч клубов, 139 музеев, 24 профессиональных театров, включая театр оперы и балета, 13 концертных организаций с 6 филармониями. Кроме профессиональных культурных организаций большую роль в белорусской культурной жизни играют любительские художественные коллективы и организации. Народные коллективы с народными танцами и песнями в их репертуаре очень популярны в Беларуси.

2. Одним из наиболее важных аспектов культурной жизни является существование профессиональных театров, которые воплощают яркие образы и события белорусской истории в драматургии, музыке и балете. Богатая белорусская поэзия, литература и драматургия приводит в восхищение добросердечную белорусскую публику, которая любит петь, писать стихи и активно влиять на культурную жизнь.
