List of drugs
Niketamide, Caffeine, Aethimizolum, Sulfocamphocainum
Mechanism of action
Niketamide, Caffeine, Aethimizolum, Sulfocamphocainum stimulate the function of respiratory center that results in increasing of respiratory rate and respiratory depth.
Niketamide and Caffeine stimulate also the function of vasomotor center that results in vasoconstriction and increasing of arterial pressure.
Pharmacological effects
These drugs increase inhibited state of central nervous system to normal state.
Indications
1. Respiratory failure in hypnotic drug overdose/poisoning
Niketamide, Caffeine, Aethimizolum, Sulfocamphocainum → stimulate the function of respiratory center → increasing of respiratory rate and respiratory depth.
2. Hypotension, caused by depression of vasomotor center (“hypotension of central origin”) (e.g. after overdosage of alcohol, overdosage of hypnotic drugs etc.)
Niketamide, Caffeine → stimulate the function of vasomotor center → increasing of arterial pressure due to vasoconstriction.
