Task 5.3.
The University is a higher educational establishment that deals both with studies and scientific work.
The highest level of the university structure is the rector`s office and different departments such as HR-department, international relations department and others. The next level is the faculties. The faculty structure is the dean`s office and the chairs. The third level is separate chair and centre.
The rector`s office is the head of the University (the rector and the vice-rectors). The dean`s house is the dean and his vice-deans in studies and science. The head of the chair and other chair staff as professors, readers, lecturers and assistants work with the student. Professors and readers have degrees of doctors of science and candidates of science (doctors).
The University studies are organized according to the curriculum. It`s a special plan to be completed by the students. The curriculum includes all the subjects for the terms and years, the number of studying hours and credits for each subject. There is also the number of lectures, seminars and practices for each subject and the form of control (credit or exam).
Different sciences are learnt at the University. The names of this sciences give name to the names of the faculties – The Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of History, the Faculty of Physics, the Faculty of Law, The Faculty of Economy. Smaller sciences give names to the specialties – Russian philology, Sociology, German languages and Journalism.
