At a Ready-Made Clothes Department
Well, how do I look in this coat?
Very nice, indeed. It suits you perfectly.
Isn’t it too loose in the shoulders?
I wouldn’t say so. But you may try on a size smaller.
Can you change this blouse, please?
Why? What’s wrong with it?
It’s the wrong size. It’s too small for me.
But what size are you?
I’m not sure. Can you measure me?
Yes, certainly. You’re forty-six.
This one’s the right size.

Shopping in london
Going shopping in a strange city is a wonderful and instant way of participating in everyday life there. What’s fun about shopping in London is that you can save time by shopping in the right area. Antique shops, for example, cluster around Portobello Road and Notting Hill Gate. Shops selling audio and computer equipment have spread up and down Nottingham Court Road in central London and Edware Road, which starts at Marble Arch. The booksellers gathered around Charring Cross Road.
If you are a foreigner returning to your country of origin, you can claim back the 13 per cent net Vat (value added tax) charged on most goods in Britain (if you spend more than 100 pounds). To do this you need to fill a form at the shop, have it stamped there, and then hand it to the customs office at the airport or port. It normally takes 6 weeks for the money to be refunded.
strange city – незнакомый город
customs office – таможенные органы
