Wines and Brandies

The vine appeared on earth millions of years ago. Imprints of leaves on stones and fossilized seeds, found by geologists deep in the earth entrails give the scientists grounds to say that in our country grape culture is 25 million years old. Cultured grapes originate from the Transcaucasus and Central Asia.

Upon discovering grapes, man finally arrived at wine-making. In ancient times man preserved sweet grape juice. After a few days in a vessel, the juice turned into a sweet fermenting mass and then into wine.

Thousands of years have passed since the day when people brought a vine from the woods for the first time and planted it near their homes. Gradually, they unravelled the innermost secrets of the sun-filled bunches.

Today hundreds of wineries are processing grapes in our country. Wine production has been industrialized.

The wines and brandies produced by the Moscow Inter-Republican Wine Distillery are known not only in our country but abroad as well. They are delivered to many countries.

In 1967, the construction of an enormous complex for distilling and bottling grape wines and brandies was started. Its designers and builders took into account the demands of the present day — high efficiency and superior quality of products.

Moscow's Wine Distillery, is in the western part of Moscow.

Its industrial and administrative blocks take up an area of 10 hectares .The rectangular glass-and-concrete buildings strike the imagination by their size and their beautiful modem architecture. They embody the latest in design and engineering. The total area of production auxiliary premises amounts to about 100.000 square metres.
