3.6 Start, park and work

3.6.1 Starting

Notice: Make sure every part is in good condition before starting engine.

Make sure the speed selector lever and implement control lever are in neutral position. Apply the parking brake. Turn on the main power switch, slightly depress the throttle pedal and then turn the Start switch.

In case engine fails to be started in 5 or 8 minutes (the starter motor must not work continuously for 15 seconds), please release the Start switch and try starting for the second time after stopping for 1 minute. If it fails for three times consecutively, you should stop trying, check the cause and solve the problem, and then try again.

After the engine is started, run the engine at idle speed 600-750 RPM for warming up and make sure the gauges read correctly and every part is running normally.

3.6.2 Parking

Stop the vehicle in a flat place, put the speed selector in neutral position, lower and level the bucket to the ground, apply the parking brake. Run the engine at 800-1000 RPM for a few minutes to get each part cooled down evenly. During winter season, screw off all of the coolant drain plugs to drain the coolant from the cooling system of engine so as to prevent the mechanical parts from being cracked. Draining of coolant may not be necessary if antifreeze has been added in the coolant. If the ambient temperature is below –18℃, the battery should be dismounted and taken into the warm room to prevent it from cracking.

3.7 Working

3 .7.1 Prepare to work

3.7.1.1 When shoveling and loading material, speed should be lowered down below 4km/h.

3.7.1.2 Clean the work site, flatten the ground, and remove debris and stones from ground that may damage the tire or cause obstructions.

3.7.2 Ways of working

3.7.2.1 Loading and dumping

Usually there are two ways for loading and dumping:

I

Figure 2-5

Figure 2-5

n Figure 2-5 A, distance between (1) and (2) is 10 meters, truck is stopped stably without moving, work efficiency is relatively high.

In Figure 2-5 B, both loader and truck are in motion; it is applicable to truck fleet in continuous transportation.

3.7.2.2 Shoveling

Figure 2-6

3.7.2.2.1 Move to material pile with speed I, shown as in Figure 2-6 A. The lower hinged point of lift arm is approximately 250mm from ground. Keep bucket parallel to ground.

3.7.2.2.2 Lower the lift arm to make bucket contact the ground when it is 1 meter from material pile, and then cut in material pile horizontally.

3.7.2.2.3 Gradually depress the throttle pedal down and make the bucket penetrate the material pile. When feeling hard to move further, you can intermittently and gradually raise the lift arm and rollback the bucket until the bucket is fully loaded.

3.7.2.2.4 Raise the bucket to a necessary height while keeping a correct rollback angle of bucket. Then put the lift control lever and tilt control lever in neutral position.

3.7.2.3 Transportation

Wheel loader can do transportation in the following cases:

3.7.2.3.1 Road is so rough and/or untamped that truck can not run.

3.7.2.3.2 The distance for transportation is less than 500 meters and it is not economical to use truck.

The transportation speed is determined according to the distance and road condition. For good visibility, the bucket should be rolled back to its limit and 400mm clearance should be kept between the ground and the lower hitch point of lift arm.

3.7.2.4 Dumping

Raise the bucket to such a height that it will not hit the top of the truck or the dumped pile during dumping. Gently push the tilt control lever forward to dump the material.

If the material is stuck on bucket, move the tile control lever forward and backward to make the material emptied. See Figure 2-7.
