Post Set-up

The Post-setup view of the Star Controls panel allows you to obtain pressure, temperature, air-fuel ratio and heat release data as functions of the crank angle. For more details on the Post-setup view and the quantities calculated by es-ice see Chapter 8, “Post set-up” in the User Guide.

Cylinder

You can monitor gas properties at any location inside the engine cylinder as if a transparent thermocouple or pressure transducer is placed in the fluid, without affecting the flow field. In this section, you will create two monitoring positions at different radial distances from the ignition point.

Click Post-setup on the left of the Star Controls panel (see Figure 6-21)

Set Monitoring positions > XYZ to 0, 0, 4.2 and ensure that CSys is set to 1

Set Radius to 6 to define the first monitoring position

Use the up/down arrows to increase the number to 2 radii

Select Radius 2 from the drop-down menu and set Radius to 12

Port 1 and Port 2

In this case, you can accept the default values for Port 1 and Port 2 shown in Figure 6-22
