По уровню свободы прессы судят в мире об открытости страны, ее демократии. Нам пока доброго слова от международных аналитиков не видать: всем и без особых инструментов анализа видно, как порой беззастенчиво гостелеканалы замалчивают правду: почти никто из них не сообщил о множестве митингов и пикетов, о журналистских акциях, которые прошли во многих городах нашей страны и за рубежом в связи с убийством Анны Политковской - известной журналистки «Новой газеты», стоявшей всегда на защите прав и свобод людей, не боявшейся говорить власти нелицеприятные вещи, докапывавшейся в своих журналистских расследованиях до вопиющих фактов (пытки заключенных, убийства мирных жителей, похищение людей, издевательства над правами россиян), которые предавались гласности, а значит, вызывали реакцию в обществе и требовали от власти принятия мер.
Примеров изворотливости нанятых государством тележурналистов в запудривании нам мозгов привести можно немало, впрочем, и немало газетчиков сидят под каблуком власти, а значит, про многое не могут или боятся писать.
Потому-то, наверное, в рейтинге свободы прессы, который ежегодно проводит международная организация «Репортеры без границ», Россия занимает ныне 147-е место из 168, т.е. почти в самом конце мы стоим по уровню нашей свободы, т.к. свобода прессы - это индикатор свободы общества.
А наибольшая свобода СМИ отмечается в Финляндии, Ирландии, Исландии, Нидерландах. А вы думали в США? Нет, у них там со свободой прессы тоже не все хорошо, и, как нам кажется, 53-е место, отданное им в рейтинге, может, даже несколько завышено.
Ну а страны с наименьшей свободой прессы - это Эритрея и, естественно, Туркмения и Северная Корея.
