Имя прилагательное (The Adjective)
Имена прилагательные в английском языке не изменяются по родам, числам и падежам:
a new book новая книга
a new building новое здание
По морфологическому составу имена прилагательные могут быть: простыми (red, long, hard) и производными (reasonable, useful, unreal, incomplete). Они образуют две степени сравнения: сравнительную и превосходную. Основная форма, не выражающая сравнение, называется положительной степенью.

При сравнении двух предметов одинакового качества употребляется оборот as . . . as - такой … как:
This Customs officer is as efficient as that one.
Для выражения неравной степени качества используется оборот not so … as - не такой … как: This cargo is not so heavy as that one.
Следующие прилагательные не имеют степеней сравнения, так как выражают абсолютную степень качества, например: woolen,wooden, golden, American, middle, perfect, unique, etc.

Имя числительное - часть речи, обозначающая количество предметов (количественные числительные), а также порядок предметов при счёте (порядковые числительные).

Порядковые числительные
The first – первый, the second – второй, the third – третий, далее порядковые числительные образуются от количественных путём прибавления суффикса -th.
Окончание -у при образовании порядкового числительного от количественного меняется на -i и прибавляется суффикс -eth.

forty – fortieth – сороковой
