  1. Are words the only way to communicate? Can you think of any other ways in which we communicate ideas or feelings?

Words are not the only way to communicate. People who do not speak the same language communicate with each other using body language. To express feelings we often use facial expressions, changing the mouth to form a smile when we are pleased or a down turned mouth when we are not pleased. We shake our heads to indicate ‘no’ and nod our heads to indicate ‘yes’. Sometimes people mime actions such as moving the arms as if running without actually moving the legs.

  1. Describe the last performance you attended. Should anybody go and see it?

I went to see a production by the Chelyabinsk Contemporary Dance Theatre last night. It was fascinating and one of the most innovative performances I have ever seen. It was choreographed by Olga Pona. Basically it is a form of modern dance but she blends elements of folkdance and modern movement together very cleverly. The orchestra was fantastic and the music incredibly moving. And the way the performers were able to show their emotions and tell a story through movement was so impressive. Sometimes there is music and even speech and at other times there is simply silence and movement. With just a few simple movements and a different facial expression performers pulled the audience into their world. We believed in the situations they created, we saw things that weren’t there and shared their emotions. I laughed when it was funny and cried when it was sad. It was a great evening. I thoroughly recommend going, it is a unique experience. I actually found it very exciting and I’ll certainly go again.

11.What would it be like for you to perform in front of an audience? (How would you prepare? How would you feel on stage after the performance? )

It must be quite scary to perform in front of an audience. If I had to do this I would prepare extremely carefully so that I felt confident. I would practice again and again to make sure that I knew exactly what to do. After the performance I think I would feel very relieved and if the audience seemed to enjoy my performance, I would feel very pleased and proud.

12.What can you say about your character and the character of your friends? Your parents and teachers?

I think my best friend is very generous because he/she shares everything with his/her friends. I think he/she is optimistic as he/she always look on the bright side of life. I think my friend is also an intelligent boy/girl as he/she always does well in tests and has a very good memory.

I appreciate my parents for all the sacrifices they make for me. They are kind and generous.

My teachers are very helpful. I value my teachers as they teach me new skills.

My friends say that I am … They love me because I …

13. What is a habit? What habits do you know? Is it easy to change them? Do you have any habits? Do you want to get rid of them or change them?

Every person has habits: something that you do very often and without thinking about it. People who live in the same household develop the same eating habits, the same daily routines, the same way of talking and so on. Some habits may be annoying, for example, a habit of leaving books all over the floor, or a habit of leaving dirty plates and cups on the table. Some habits, such as smoking and drinking alcohol, make a lot of harm. If you have annoying or harmful habits you should get rid of them or change them. I think it is very difficult to change your habits. You should have a strong will and be firm. As for me I usually … I want to get rid of … and change …
