Your resume is not addressed to anyone in particular; however the letter of application always gives you the opportunity to address one specific person. Make the letter versatile so you can change it for each employer. Never write a form letter to be duplicated and sent out! Your letter must be brief and interesting. And insure that your resume will be read. The first 20 words are most important; they should attract the reader's attention. Remember to keep copies of all correspondence you send and receive during your job search. A letter of application is a sales tool. It should always accompany your resume or application. Here are a few tips for great letters:
