1. Introduction
Objective: To learn the methods of collection, processing and analysing of socio-economic phenomena and processes.
The task of discipline is determined by the functions performed by statistics in the economic sciences, including: the study of the principles of statistical surveys, sampling, justification of statistical indicators, mastering techniques of statistical analysis of socio-economic phenomena and processes, identifying patterns of their distribution, dynamics, relationships, formulation and testing of statistical hypotheses.
The subject of discipline: the size and quantity ratio of the mass phenomena and processes in the economical and the social sphere, the laws of their formation, evolution and relationship.
Upon completion of the course the student should know and be able to apply in practice:
methods and techniques of statistical surveillance, combining and grouping of statistical data;
methodology of calculation of statistical indicators;
methods for analysis of patterns of distribution, assessment of variation and concentration of phenomena and processes;
statistical methods of analysis of interactions at various information arrays;
methods of analysis of intensity of dynamics, time series smoothing, extrapolation of trend, assessment and sustainability of fluctuations of the time series;
methods for index analysis.
Knowledge and skills of statistical analysis of socio-economic information is a prerequisite for deepening analytical work at all levels of management and scientific justification of management decisions.
