Тема 5. Притяжательный падеж существительных

Притяжательный падеж существительных передает отношения обладания принадлежности. Он образуется двумя способами: беспредложным и предложным.

Беспредложный способ:

Единственное число: My sister’s car – машина моей сестры

Множественное число: My friends’ children – дети моих друзей

My children’s friends – друзья моих детей

Предложный способ: the car of my sister; the children of my friends;

the friends of my children

Task 1. Переведите на русский язык следующие словосочетания.

John’s pen, Ann’s brother, children’s toys, my father’s car, our son’s bicycle, her daughter’s dress, our guests’ keys, this student’s exercise book, these students’ exercise books, my friend’s letter, my friends’ letters, that woman’s documents, those women’s documents, this man’s money, these men’s money.

Task 2. Замените словосочетаниями с существительными в притяжательном падеже, образованном беспредложным способом.

The wife of my brother, the computer of her boyfriend, the books of their children, the pen of my sister, the flat of our relatives, the hat of this woman, the bags of these women, the letter of her son, the garden of my parents, the hobby of our boss, the contract of his partners, the money of this businessman.

Task 3. Поставьте существительное в скобках в притяжательный падеж.

Тема 6. Глагол to be

Глагол to be в Present, Past и Future Indefinite имеет следующие формы:

В отрицательной форме после глагола to be ставится частица not.

В вопросительной форме глагол to be ставится перед подлежащим.

+ He is a student. – He is not (isn’t) a student. ? Is he a student?

+ You were at home. – You were not (weren’t) at home. ? Were you at home?

+ I will be at work. – I will not (won’t) be at work. ? Will I be at work?

Тема 7. Оборот There + be в Indefinite Tenses

Оборот there + be переводится есть, находится, имеется, существует.

Перевод предложений с оборотом there + be следует начинать с обстоятельства места или со сказуемого, если обстоятельство отсутствует.

Слово there – вводная частица – на русский язык не переводится.

+ There is a book on the table. На столе (есть) книга.

- There is no book on the table. На столе нет книги.

? Is there a book on the table? – Yes, there is/ No, there isn’t.

На столе есть книга? – Да, есть/ Нет.

+ There are two books on the table. На столе (есть) две книги.

- There are no books on the table. На столе нет книг.

? Are there two books on the table? – Yes, there are/ No, there aren’t.

На столе есть две книги? – Да, есть/ Нет.

• There is a book and two pens on the table.

• There are two pens and a book on the table.
