The titles listed in this bibliography include works which have been recently published and are available in most general-reference libraries. In the sections below, works are arranged by type, by national areas (Britain, England, Scotland, or Wales), and by the chronological periods they cover.

GENERAL REFERENCE

The titles in this section are guides to general information for Great Britain. They may be used to direct students to other sources and to provide similar information to that which is contained in this book. Since the field of British history is so large and so well supplied with printed information, no single work will adequately cover the field, and therefore the student usually needs to refer to several works of the same type for full coverage.
