Staff geologist

A Louisiana-based independent oil and gas explo­ration firm is seeking a staff level geologist. Qualified applicant must have S years experience as a petroleum geologist, with a minimum of a B.S. degree in geology or geosciences. Interior Gulf Coast Salt Basin experience is preferred. A good background in well log analysis and familiarity with geophysical methods and application is a plus. Applicant must be able to work in an integrated team environment with a small staff of dedicated explorationists using advanced technology in explo­ration and evaluation. Responsibilities will primarily be production geology/property management and associated well-site work. Additional responsibilities will include directed area mapping and prospect generation. The US. Department of the Interior. Minerals Management Service, is actively seeking two petroleum engineers with oil and gas experience to join our Regional Office located in Jefferson, Louisiana. The incumbents of these positions will conduct accidem/spill/poUution investigations of oil, gas, and sulphur activities on Federal leases in the Gulf of Mexico. These positions are directly related to safety of operations, protection of equipment, conservation of natural resources, and preservation of the environment as required by congressional laws and Federal regulations. The positions require a thorough knowledge of engineering theories, concepts, principles, and practices applicable to petroleum operations on the OCS. Employees also must possess a knowledge of oil and gas production, drilling and workover operations, needs, procedures, equipment and application, knowledge of" inspecting oil and gas equipment, accident reporting, information gathering, storage and retrieval techniques.
