Dear students, please write and submit your diaries on a daily basis – we will not be accepting any late submissions!

For Wednesday, August 29:

1 Create different situations similar to everyday life where requests, invitations and suggestions are used. This task should be prepared in teams formed in Monday classes.

2 Read and listen to The Last Leaf written by O’Henry and write one paragraph description of:

  • Sue

  • Johnsy

  • Behrman

  • Doctor

You should choose only one of them.

Note: 1. your description must be supported by the facts from the story;

2. Use simple and clear basic sentence structures (remember: S P O)

3. Remember: it is not a documentary, try to find features which are not directly expressed; feel free to give your own imaginative features and characteristics

The story is available in Ainur’s folder.

3. Diary: select one interesting/unusual/boring/shocking event that happened to you on Tuesday and describe it in detail (why did it happen, how it happened, who was involved in this event and how it affected you as a student/person). Please use the Times New Roman, size 12 and double space.

4. Intensive reading: read Ch. 2 of The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. Underline, translate and write transcriptions of the new words right on the copy of the book. Please also answer the questions written in a separate handout in my folder on the L:drive (Intensive reading,

The Hunchback of Notre-Dame).

This week my colleague Ainur is meeting with you individually to discuss your study progress. Next week, guys, you will meet with me, all right? I will also type a schedule for our tutorials.

For Friday, August 31:
