Imagine that we are in Russia in 2050. What is Russia like?

  1. Is Russia a big or a small country? Is it the largest country in the world?

  2. What is the capital of Russia? What does it look like?

  3. Who rules the country: the president or the king or queen?

  4. What are the international relationships that Russia has?

  5. Do people live in the cities or in the villages?

  6. What houses do people live in? What can you see in the houses?

  7. What do people wear?

  8. What food do people eat? How many years do people live?

  9. How do people spend their free time?

  10. How do they travel? Do people travel to the Moon and other planets?

  11. What pets do people have?

  12. Are there universities or how else do people get education?

  • Choose one topic and prepare the project:

- The geographical position of Russia.

- State system of the Russian Federation

- Enigma of Russian people.

- Cities and sightseeings of Russia.

- Outstanding people of Russia.

- Russian art

- Russian literature

- Seven wonders of Russia.

- Russian holidays.

- Russian cuisine.

  • An international youth magazine has asked its readers to take part in a descriptive writing competition entitled “There is no place like home”. Write your article describing your country (200-220 words) with introduction, main body and conclusion. Then go through the following checklist and make any necessary improvements:

  • Is the article clearly divided into paragraphs?

  • Is the introduction exciting enough to invite the reader to go on reading your article?

  • Are the events in the main body presented in the order theyhappened?

  • Does the conclusion contain a warm welcome to Russia for the reader?

  • Have you used proper tenses, linking words, a variety of adjectives and adverbs?

  • Are there any grammar or spelling mistakes?

  • Have you used the appropriate punctuation?

  • You are a journalist reporting on the New Year celebration in Russia at the Red Square. Your partner is there. Prepare questions and act out your interview.

  • Think over and write an essay entitled “What makes a great country”.
