5. Обстоятельство (Adverbial Modifier of):
Инфинитив в функции обстоятельство цели отвечает на вопросы для чего?, для какой цели? Может вводиться союзами in order , so as и стоит в начале или конце предложения. Переводится инфинитивом с союзами чтобы, для того чтобы, с тем чтобы или отглагольным существительным с предлогом для.
Models:
He came to my office one day in order to ask me for a job. |
Однажды он пришел в мой офис, для того чтобы попросить у меня работу. |
You’d better wait outside so as to be at hand if I want you. |
Вам бы лучше подождать снаружи, для того чтобы быть рядом, если вы мне понадобитесь. |
Инфинитивные обороты (infinitive constructions)
1. Сложное Дополнение (Complex Object)
Конструкция Complex Object (Сложное дополнение) состоит из сочетания местоимения в объектном падеже или существительного в общем падеже с инфинитивом и употребляется после глаголов выражающих:
- восприятие (to see, to hear, to feel, to watch, to notice, to observe, etc.),
- умственную активность (to think, to believe, to suppose, to expect, to consider, to assume, to choose, to find, to know, etc.),
- желание (to want, to wish, to desire, to intent, to like, to hate, should (would) like, etc.),
- побуждение (to have, to let, to make),
- принуждение, приказ, просьбу, разрешение (to order, to force, to tell, to ask, to allow, to command, to demand, to require).
Complex Object переводится на русский язык дополнительным придаточным предложением, вводимым союзами как, что, чтобы.
Models:
We wanted the professor (him) to give a lecture. |
Мы хотели, чтобы профессор прочел лекцию. |
We know the professor to have given an excellent lecture on protein synthesis. |
Мы знаем, что профессор прочел блестящую лекцию по синтезу белка. |
Примечания.
1. Инфинитив в конструкции Complex Object употребляется без частицы to после глаголов, выражающих восприятие и побуждение.
Model:
I saw him cross the street. |
Я видел, как он перешел улицу. |
2.После глаголов: to expect
to anticipate надеяться, ожидать
to hope
инфинитив переводится обычно будущим временем.
Model:
We expected the professor (him) to give a lecture. |
Мы ожидали, что профессор прочтет лекцию. |
2. Сложное подлежащее (Complex Subject)
Оборот Complex Subject (Сложное подлежащее) состоит из грамматического подлежащего и инфинитива, стоящего после сказуемого, выраженного личной формой глагола.
Конструкция Complex Subject употребляется, когда сказуемое выражено:
глаголами: to advise, to allow, to ask, to believe, to consider, to expect, to feel, to find, to force, to hear, to instruct, to intend, to invite, to know, to leave, to let, to make, to mean, to order, to persuade, to report, to request, to require, to say, to see, to show, to surprise, to teach, to tell, to think, to understand, to watch и др. в форме Passive Voice.
Model:
The talks are expected to begin in March. |
а) Ожидают, что переговоры начнутся в марте. б) Переговоры, как ожидают, начнутся в марте. |
глаголами to seem, to appear (казаться, по-видимому), to prove, to turn out, to come out (оказываться), to happen, to chance (случаться, случайно оказаться) в форме Active Voice.
Model:
This student seems to know two languages. |
а) Кажется, что этот студент знает два языка. б) Этот студент, кажется, знает два языка. |
Перед глаголами to seem, to appear, to prove, to happen иногда стоит there:
Model:
There seem to be no changes in the results of the experiments. |
Кажется, нет никаких изменений в результатах экспериментов. |
3) сочетаниями:
To be likely – вероятно, может быть |
To be sure – конечно, несомненно |
To be not likely – маловероятно, не может быть |
To be certain – наверное, oбязательно |
To be unlikely – вряд ли, едва ли |

The results are likely to be effective. |
а). Вероятно, что эти результаты будут эффективны. б). Эти результаты, вероятно, будут эффективны. |
Предложения переводятся будущим временем.
