34. What are basic features of Database Programs?

A database is used to store and organize a collection of related information on a computer. The fields store the database information. The collection of all fields is called records. For example a record can be composed by all the information of a single person. (Example: name, last name, address etc.) The records are grouped in files which can hold a large amount of information. This information can easily be updated or deleted. Database software can be very useful to help your business manage their account and improve the profits.

One of the best features database have is that you can find a record in a matter of seconds containing all the specified information of the criteria you are looking for. The information can be automatically sorted into a numerical or alphabetical order just by selecting a specified field.

A good database package includes networking facilities which can add more features to improve your business management and share the needed information.

A database manager helps you control the data that needs to be stored providing a secure way for managing a large amount of information.

35. What are programing languages?

A programming language is an artificial language designed to express computations that can be performed by a machine, particularly a computer. Programming languages can be used to create programs that control the behavior of a machine and/or to express algorithms precisely.

The earliest programming languages predate the invention of the computer, and were used to direct the behavior of machines such as Jacquard looms and player pianos. Thousands of different programming languages have been created, mainly in the computer field, with many more being created every year. Most programming languages describe computation in an imperative style, i.e., as a sequence of commands, although some languages, such as those that support functional programming or logic programming, use alternative forms of description.

A programming language is usually split into the two components of syntax (form) and semantics (meaning). Some languages are defined by a specification document (for example, the C programming language is specified by an ISO Standard), while other languages, such as Perl, have a dominant implementation that is used as a reference.

36. What are the main parts of the CPU?

CPU is the short name for Central Processing Unit. It is basically a circuit which is electronic in nature and is used for execution of computer programs. CPU is the heart of a computer. In fact whatever functions a computer performs is through a CPU.

CPU's have changed and improved quiet a lot since their introduction in the 60's. Now they are much more faster, reliable and able to perform complex tasks. Following are the basic parts of a CPU:

- Input device

- Program counter

- Memory

- Input device

- Output device

- Register

-Arithematic Logic unit

37. How can we store data and programs permanently?

As someone mentioned, you could burn CDs or DVDs if you only want to store your data 2-10 years. After that you start to get data loss/degradation, especially on cheap media. This is a good option for personal/home use because it is nearly dirt cheap, but it won't last all that long. If you want to use this method, you will have to reburn your disks every 2-5 years and assume there is no data loss during transcription.

Magnetic tape storage will generally last a good deal longer but is more expensive. This method is often employed by businesses because the tapes do have a long shelf life with high data integrity, but is generally too expensive for home use.

Hard drives also do a good job of long term storage, but are also quite expensive. The good news on using hard drives for data storage is that they are generally easy to use for data backup for the home user.

You could also use an online backup service, as I would assume they would keep regular backups of their data for you and keep it in good condition.

Those are your best (and most common) options. If you want anything to last 100+ years, you're better off with a stone and chisel
