1. Mini-lessons

Work in pairs or in groups of three. Prepare a mini-lesson (for 20-25 minutes) for your group on one of the following topics:

a) Bringing up a genius

b) Pre-natal child care

c) Home schooling

d) Single-sex education

e) Schools of the future

Use printed texts or some audio or video materials. Be sure to include in your lesson vocabulary work, exercises on checking comprehension, and then use your material as a springboard for discussion. You can also come up with your own idea for the topic of your mini-lesson.

2. Role play

Split into two groups. One of the two groups has to prepare the role of the interviewers and write down questions each interviewer could ask the members of the “ideal family”. The other group represents an “ideal family”; they should allocate the different roles within the group and talk about personalities, ways of behaviour and ideas of the people in their family and give advice to other families.

The “ideal family” is interviewed by a different interviewer in turn in front of the class. At the beginning each member of the family introduces themselves or another family member.

At the end of the interview discuss the values and ideals that were presented.
