Hello, everyone! It’s wonderful to meet you and I hope we’ll have nice time speaking and reading English. I ought to tell you about myself. I am six years your senior and I’ve been working for a year. Oh, it’s really awful to say, but time is flying. Yesterday I was a student like you and now I am an assistant manager at a large company. I like my job very much.

I am tall, and I have got blue eyes. As for my hair – well, I had shoulder-length straight dark hair until a year ago, but now it’s short. And I’ve got moustache because I’d like to look older. If you see me in my office I’ll be in a suit and a white shirt with a tie, but I usually wear jeans and a T-shirt. Any special features? I look like a movie star! – I’m kidding, of course! I am simply Harry George Smith. Call me Harry for short.

About Bob Howard

Hello! Let me introduce myself. My name is Robert Ron Howard, but call me Bob for short. I am not a Londoner, I only study here. My parents live in Portland, Oregon. My mother’s a homemaker, and my father’s a businessman. I have got two sisters who are at school in Oregon. I’m not married.

I like meeting people, and I love talking to children. I enjoy swimming, going to the theatre, watching TV, playing the piano and listening to jazz and reggae music. I am also fond of cooking, especially Chinese and Indian food.

I don’t like hamburgers, and I hate eating junk food. I couldn’t call myself an experienced driver, but as I don’t stand traveling on the Underground I have bought an old car.

I get up at 7.30 and I go running. I have my breakfast at 8.30, and then I go to my college. Usually I spend here half a day, after that I go to the TV studios. I work from 5 o’clock to 9 p.m. I get home at about 11 p.m. because I often go to the theatre in the evening.

You see I’m just an ordinary person like you and them.

Ex. 15. Read the text about Teimuraz Bolloev and translate it.

Teimuraz Kazbekovich Bolloev was born in 1953 in the village of Donifas, North Ossetia, in a teacher’s family. He studied at the Moscow Institute of Food Technology, specializing in the brewing technology.

He has been working in the brewery business since 1980. Bolloev started out as a mechanical engineer at the Leningrad-based Stepan Razin Brewery, subsequently holding positions as malt-house shift foreman, production engineer deputy head of the bottling department, then head of this department, chief brewer and chief production engineer. After reorganization of the brewery into a joint-stock company in 1991, Teimuraz Bolloev became a director-general and in 1998, he came to be a president of OAO Pivovarennaya Kompaniya Baltika.

In 2000 and 2004, he was President Vladimir Putin’s election campaign coordinator.

Bolloev has a little baby son in his third marriage.

He earned great respect. He is a holder of the Order of Honour, the Order of Service to the Motherland, Class 3.
