Grammar: Непряма мова: спеціальні питальні речення

При відтворенні непрямою мовою спеціальних запитань питальні слова (займенники і прислівники) стають сполучними словами, і також діє правило узгодження часів:

Where does Ann live?’ asked he. – He asked where Ann lived.

Why do you think you know him?’ she asked me. – She asked me why I thought I knew him.

What are you doing, Josh?’ asked Bill. – Bill asked Josh what he was doing.

Why didn't you come?’ he said to me. - He asked me why I hadn’t come.

Where have you been?’ she asked him. - She asked him where he had been.

Who called you today?’ she asked. – She wondered who had called me that day.

She asked, ‘When will you decorate the room?’ - She asked when I would decorate the room.

Where were they yesterday?’ said Dan. – Dan asked where they had been the day before.
