2. How many types can annotations be grouped into in accordance with their content and aim?
3. What parts does an annotation consist of?
Practical assignment 12
1. Read the following source text and target translation. Then construct your own target annotation. Explain your strategy and the main decisions you made in producing it.
FORS—The FUCHS Optimized Retrofit Shaft
VAI/FUCHS offer flexible upgrading packages which allow any EAF with a capacity exceeding 60 tons to be economically modified to a finger shaft furnace. The main furnace components of the existing furnace, i.e. the power supply, the furnace frame, electrode gantry, electrode arms and the lower furnace shell remain unchanged. The upper furnace shell and furnace roof are adapted for the post-installation of the shaft with scrap retaining fingers. Depending on the site conditions, (furnace bay height, space availability, logistics for material handling, etc.), the furnace is charged using either baskets or a conveyor belt system. Installation can be carried out quickly and with a minimum of interruption in ongoing production. The substantially improved furnace output means a highly attractive return on investment-'ROI).
FEATURES & BENEFITS Shaft installation in all existing AC and DC furnaces exceeding 60-t heat size
Furnaces of any type can be upgraded
5-10% boost of active power input with same power supply
Low investment costs through maximum use of existing equipment
Only approx. 1 month furnace shutdown necessary for complete installation
Significant cost savings and productivity increase following FORS installation |
