Предисловие

Данное учебное пособие предназначено для студентов-бакалавров по направлениям «Экономика» и «Менеджмент» и может быть использовано как для аудиторной, так и для самостоятельной работы студентов при подготовке к занятиям. Пособие поможет студенту подготовиться к зачетам и экзаменам, получить из аутентичных текстов необходимую информацию и использовать ее для реального общения.

В пособии соблюдены принципы коммуникативной и профессиональной направленности; оно содержит немало интересных и познавательных заданий: лексические и грамматические задания широкой тематики, информативные тексты, образцы написания деловых писем, дополнительные тексты и вопросы для составления устных монологических высказываний. Иллюстративный материал и упражнения включают каждодневную и экономическую лексику, что позволяет значительно расширить активный словарь и способствует развитию речевых навыков.

Тематически материал пособия сгруппирован в 7 разделов: «My Family, Studies and Work» (Бурлакова О.Н.), «Economy of a Country, Region, City» (Маврина Н.В.), «Choice of a Job. Job Interview» (Дроздова Ю.С.), «Business. Management. Presenting a Company» (Бутюгина О.В., Зайнутдинова И.Р.), «Marketing and Advertising» (Данилова Г.В.), «Money, Finance, Banking» (Касаткина О.Е.), «Справочные материалы» (Кислицына С.В.). Каждый раздел состоит из учебных текстов со списками активной лексики, которую студенты должны выучить, и послетекстовых лексических упражнений. Весь грамматический материал систематизирован и представлен в пособии по нарастающей сложности. Грамматический комментарий и таблицы помогут студентам выполнить грамматические упражнения. Тексты и упражнения учебного пособия различны по степени трудности, что дает возможность преподавателю индивидуализировать задания. Каждый раздел завершается учебным тестом, который студенты выполняют для проверки усвоения лексического и грамматического материала. Раздел 7 пособия включает справочный материал: правила чтения, правила работы со словарем, лексический минимум экономической лексики. Учебный тематический минимум состоит из 18 списков, каждый из которых включает 20 наиболее употребительных английских терминологических лексических единиц с переводом на русский язык. Лексические единицы распределены по узкоспециальным тематическим группам, соответствующим тематике профессионально-ориентированных текстов.

Мы надеемся, что содержание учебного пособия будет способствовать профессиональному развитию личности студента и окажет практическую помощь в совершенствовании знания английского языка.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Natalya Kuznetsova. I was born in

Chelyabinsk on July 2, 1986. I finished secondary school and technical college here. After finishing college I decided to continue my further education and this year I have passed my entrance exams and have become a first-year student of the Ural Social Economic Institute of the Academy of Labour and Social Relations. I study at the correspondence department.

My future speciality is Accounting, Analysis and Auditing. We study such subjects as Economic Theory; World Economy; Money, Credit, Banks; Mathematics; Information Science; English; Philosophy; Psychology; History of Russia; Physical Training and a lot of other subjects. Of course it is difficult to combine work and studies but my objective is to develop a career in economy and business so I will try to overcome these difficulties and become a highly skilled and qualified specialist in the future.

My parents and my younger sister live in Chelyabinsk. I am married and have a family of my own – my husband Denis and a so n, Vladimir, he is only 5 months old. We have a 2-room flat not far from the city centre. There is a livingroom and a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom in our flat. It is very comfortable. I like my family very much.

Some years ago “UNESCO” reported English to be the world language, as it is spoken all over the world. Nowadays it is especially important to know English as thousands of books, newspapers and magazines are printed in English. It is the language of business, science, trade and culture. Many people all over the world learn English, because they need it for their work, others travel abroad a lot. About 70% of world’s mail and telephone calls are in English.

English is spoken by more than 400 million people. It is the most widespread language in the world, besides Chinese.

English is known as the official language of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. It is used as one of the official languages in Canada, the Republic of South Africa and the Irish Republic. Many people from different parts of India and Africa speak English as a second language. Almost all Europeans study and use English as a foreign language. About 15 years ago English became very popular in our country due to Perestroika. Nowadays it is studied at schools, colleges, universities and sometimes even at nursery schools.

It isn’t easy to learn a foreign language. It is rather a long process that demands much time and patience.
