Когда необходимо, чтобы блок мог раскрываться до плоского состояния и вместе с тем имел аккуратный современный вид, выбор неизбежно падает на механический переплет. Все варианты такого переплёта подразумевают возможность использования раскладных листов, этикеток и вставок. Кроме того. Возможно использование элементов брошюровки любого цвета. Различные способы изготовления обложки, включая частично и полностью скрытую вставку книжного блока в переплет, увеличивают разнообразие возможных вариантов.
Брошюры, скрепленные способом Wire-O, имеет совершенно плоскую форму, и могут раскрываться на 360 градусов. Изготавливаются они на полностью автоматизированных машинах Bielomatic.
Спиральное проволочное скрепление - экономичный вид брошюровки. Обычно он используется для переплёта календарей и тетрадей. Блок при этом лежит плоско. Но он приподнят с одного конца, что затрудняет рассматривать изображение. Echart & Company производит спиральную проволоку с диаметром спирали до 2 дюймов.
Для переплёта блока также используется пластиковая гребёнка. Она не задирается при открытии книги, поэтому этот вариант идеален для блоков с изображениями на всю страницу. Кроме того, на пластиковой гребенке можно печатать заголовки, которые будут хорошо видны на книжной полке.
Способ скрепления пластиковой спиралью аналогичен спиральному проволочному скреплению, только в данном случае используются пластиковые брошюровочные элементы. Преимущество пластика перед проволокой заключаются в его большей прочности, что позволяет использовать его для переплета книг, условия пользования которыми далеки от идеальных.
