Лепра (проказа)
Лепра – это инфекционное заболевание человека. Совсем недавно лепра считалась неизлечимым заболеванием, которое неизбежно приводило к мучительной* смерти после нескольких лет тяжелой инвалидности. Больные лепрой вызывали страх у населения. Однако установлено, что лепра – это малозаразное заболевание и современные методы лечения останавливают и излечивают болезнь.
Возбудитель лепры – кислоустойчивая* микобактерия, сходная с возбудителем туберкулёза, проникающая через кожу или слизистую оболочку носа. Заражение может произойти только при длительном и тесном контакте с больным.
Первые признаки болезни проявляются через 4-6 лет после заражения.
Заболевание начинается обычно незаметно, иногда с общего недомогания и повышения температуры. Затем на коже появляется беловатые или красные пятна. На этих участках кожа становится нечувствительной к теплу, холоду, прикосновению и боли.
Постепенно кожа уплотняется, образуются узлы. В запущенных случаях выпадают брови, мочки* ушей увеличиваются, нос западает* («проваливается»), выражение лица сильно изменяется, зрение слабеет до полной слепоты, голос становится хриплым*, появляется удушье, развиваются параличи и сильные боли в конечностях, поражаются внутренние органы.
Лечение продолжительное – от нескольких месяцев до нескольких лет в зависимости от времени постановки диагноза. Заболевшие помещаются в специальные лечебные учреждения (лепрозории*). Успехи в лечении сделали возможной выписку больных на амбулаторное лечение под наблюдением участкового врача. Такие больные не опасны для окружающих, но всех членов семьи больного в целях профилактики периодически осматривают врачи-специалисты.
