riting Activity. Imagine you are Max Hunter. Look at your notes from the Oral activity and write a letter to your friend telling him about the changes to the factory.

Exercise 3. Helen and Chris moved house two years ago. Yesterday, they drove past their old house and saw that it looked very different. Describe the changes using the Present Perfect Passive, as in the example.

e.g. the outside walls / paint – The outside walls have been painted.

Exercise 4. Mrs. Edison is a businesswoman. She was away on a business trip but now she is back. She wants to know what has been done while she was away. Use the prompts and, in pairs, ask and answer questions, as in the example.

e.g. SA: Have they delivered my new desk?

SB: No, it’s hasn’t been delivered yet.

SA: Have you posted the invitations?

SB: Yes, they have already been posted.

Exercise 5. Read the comments below, and decide what has / has not been done. Write a sentence using the verb given in brackets.

e.g. There is water coming through the roof! (repair). The roof hasn’t been repaired.

Exercise 6. Change the following sentences, as in the example.

Exercise 7. Ask your secretary:

if the documents have been typed; why the letters haven’t been posted yet; if the journals have been received; how many copies have been received; if a table at a restaurant has been reserved; if all the people have been invited.

Exercise 8. Translate into English.
