Letter of claim
Eterna-Tools, Inc.
Route 9
Saddlebrook, New Jersey 07666
April 12, 2009
Dear Gentlemen and Ladies:
On March 1, we ordered and subsequently received one case of handsaws, model 88b. We paid for the order with our check no. 7293, a photocopy of which is enclosed.
When we decided to order these saws instead of model 78b, it was at the urging of your sales representative, Harold Saunders. He assured us that the new saws were more durable and efficient than the older model.
However, we have now had the saws on our selling floor for three weeks, and already six have been returned with broken teeth by extremely dissatisfied customers.
We are therefore returning the entire order of 88b saws and would like to be refunded for their full purchase price plus shipping expenses.
Yours truly,
Letter of complaint
Dear Sir,
I am writing to complain about the holiday apartment I rented from you on 15th August. I believe your advertisement was misleading in a number of ways.
Firstly, the apartment was by no means spacious. The rooms were cramped and there was very little storage space. Also, the distance from the beach was in fact ten times farther than you claimed.
Furthermore, the balcony railing was broken. This was quite dangerous and could have caused an accident. In addition, it overlooked an unattractive car park in contrast to the 'great view' you advertised. Finally, the kitchen was poorly equipped and a lot of essential items were missing, such as plates and saucepans. Consequently, I felt I could not stay any longer and returned home after three days.
As you can imagine, I am quite disappointed. I feel I am entitled to a partial refund in addition to an apology for the inconvenience caused. I look forward to receiving a prompt reply.
Yours faithfully,
Sandra Folkestone
Letter of application
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for the post of European Sales Director advertised on your 'Execnet' website.
I am 48 years old, Brazilian, with a medical degree from the University of Sao Paolo (1982), and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Los Angeles (1988). I joined my present company, AVRC Pharmaceuticals, in 1997. After two years as Marketing Manager for South America, I moved to Madrid to take up my present position as Regional Director for Southern Europe.
Before joining AVRC I was in charge of clinical trials for new drugs at Medilab, where I spent five years. I also have four years' experience as a research scientist for new drugs, first with Schering Plough (1988-91), then with Merck (1991-92). My professional experience also includes four years as a doctor working for a medical charity in Peru, before leaving to start my two-year MBA course.
Concerning my language ability, I am fluent in English and Spanish, and I am currently following an intensive course in French. I am hard-working, creative, and ambitious, and after a number of years with the same company, I would appreciate the opportunity of a new challenge.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
Luis Antonio de Oliveira
