Vocabulary:

I

1. to have one’s own place to live – to have a house where your family lives alone (without the parents or other relatives);

2. with a baby coming – waiting for a baby;

3. room – enough space;

4. to be pregnant –to be waiting for a baby;

5. to afford something – to have a possibility to have, bye or do something;

6. to lend money – to give money to somebody for some time;

7. to be stubborn – to follow only one’s own decisions;

13. a brand new kitchen – a kitchen which has just been built or rebuilt;

15. a good investment – a profitable purchase;

1. a loan officer – a clerk in a bank who deals with loans;

2. to refinance the present home – to registrate another mortgage for the house which has already been bought;

3. to find out about a mortgage – to ascertain everything about concluding an agreement about a loan with a bank;

4. to own or rent a house – to have a house as one’s property or to lease it;

5. a freelance photographer – a photographer who doesn’t work for any company;

6. tax forms – the forms one must fill in to pay taxes on the income;

7. to make a 10% downpayment – to pay 10% of the whole sum of a loan at once;

8. payments over 30 years – one can repay the loan during 30 years;

9. to own property, stocks, bonds – to have some kind of security in possession;

10. collateral – some property which one can give if he can’t repay the loan;

11. a guarantor – a person who can repay a loan instead of you if you can’t do it;

12. income – money received during a certain period;

13. to handle something alone – to cope with something without any help;

14. to have an advance on a book – to get some money for the book before it has been published;

15. to put the money down – to save some money for future use;

16. a great learning experience – to acquire more knowledge about something.
