Упражнения на чтение

1. Познакомьтесь с правилами чтения буквы u и прочтите следующие слова:

[ʌ] cut, plus, ultra, hundred, structure, discuss, result;

[u] put, pull, full, push, bush;

[ə:] turn, further, surface, burn, furniture;

[ju:, u:] tube, cube, use, unit, future, union, blue, include;

[juə] pure, cure, durable, during, curious.

2. Прочтите слова, обращая внимание на чтение буквосочетания th:

[ð] the, with, this, these, that, other, further, another, thus;

[Ө] three, thank, thin, think, thousand, length, south.

3. Прочтите интернациональные слова, встречающиеся в уроке, обращая внимание на их частичное фонетическое сходство с русскими словами:

function, problem, interesting, agriculture, transport, to transport, form, information, engineer, figure, effective.

Грамматические упражнения

1. Скажите, как будет звучать прилагательное при сравнении с каким-либо другим объектом:

old, wide, large, famous, narrow, big, interesting, high, beautiful.

2. Как будет звучать прилагательное, когда объект выделяется на фоне всех остальных:

great, short, important, hot, cold, small, specific, numerous, easy.

3. Измените данные словосочетания, сначала сравнивая предмет с каким-либо другим, а затем выделяя его среди всех остальных:

an important message, a modern computer, a quick reply, new software, an original application, a large and suitable disk, a compatible computer.

4. Переведите предложения, обращая внимание на степень сравнения прилагательных:

1. The more memory you have in your computer, the more operations you perform.

2. Electronic cameras are becoming more and more popular.

3. We store a larger amount of data on CD-ROMs.

4. People design system programs for more specific pieces of hardware.

5. Software interface looks more attractive to the user.
