TIMELESS RUSSIA A 12 Night River Journey aboard the Viking Kirov Linking the Great Cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow |
Mother Russia has been blessed with numerous vast rivers, lakes and inland seas. The addition of canals of these natural assets allows us to travel great distances from the remote forests of Kareliya to Moscow and beyond, aboard a comfortable river vessel. These river voyages link the great cities of the Tsars. Russia's two most famous cities are also the greatest repositories of Russian art and architecture. Moscow, the medieval and 20th century capital has a wonderful heritage of early buildings, while St. Petersburg, the creation of Peter the Great, benefited from the inspiration of Europe's greatest 18th century architects and craftsmen. Having explored the wonders of the city, we will sail through the enchanting countryside with its tranquil and timeless quality which has so inspired writers and musicians over the centuries. Our exploration of ancient Russia will introduce us to the magical Golden Ring cities of Holy Russia which still preserve their medieval kremlins, fortified monasteries and beautiful cathedrals and churches. Without doubt, a river cruise through Russia is the best means for exploring this marvelous country. It offers comfort and safety and allows you the opportunity to see so much without the discomfort of long road or train journeys or the uncertainty of Russian domestic flights.
