1. Translate the sentences into Ukrainian paying special attention to the form and function of the Participle in the sentence.

1. The boy playing in the garden is my sister’s son. 2. You can get the recommended book in the library. 3. He asked her to go on with the story, promising not to interrupt her again. 4. Receiving no letters from her father, she called him. 5. He left the office at three o’clock, saying he would be back at five. 6. She pulled the long forgotten letter out of its hiding place. 7. Being asked for her opinion she blushed. 8. Having voiced his objection he sat down. 9. A good child is not supposed to speak unless spoken to. 10. She was wearing a knitted cup pulled low over her eyes. 11. She was always well dressed 12. Smiling she showed me the letter.

2. Open the brackets using the correct form of the Participle. Don’t mix these forms.

3. Translate the following expressions.

4. Transform the following sentences according to the model.

Model 2: The woman who is talking with the students is our lecturer. –
