Тема 2.2. Основная проблематика специальности «Социальная работа».

Продолжительность занятия: 2 часа.

Цель: Овладеть активной лексикой и основными лексико-грамматическими конструкциями, необходимыми и достаточными для построения монологических и диалогических высказываний.

Задачи:

1. ознакомить с активной лексикой и тренировать ее

2. тренировать грамматические модели

3. тренировка навыков изучающего и информативного чтения, устного высказывания

Этапы занятий и рекомендуемая продолжительность тренировки видов речевой деятельности:

1. Проверка домашнего задания. Направлено на формирование компетенции (20 мин).

2. Изучающее чтение. Направлено на формирование компетенции ОК-14 – (70 мин).

Task 1. Read and translate the text “Addiction Social Worker”.

Task 2. Read the following statements about the expertise required for addiction social workers. Say which of them are most important. Give your reasons. Use the pattern and the prompts below:

Addiction social workers must/ must be able to … as

1. to liaise with all the people involved in the treatment.

2. to understand the medical issues as well as the psychological facets of addiction.

3. to be skillful at counseling techniques.

4. to understand diagnostic procedures, therapeutic options, and mental health indicators.

5. to understand their individual clients and the nature of their addictions.

Prompts: a) to better assess the condition of the addict; b) to draw more support; c) to ensure successful communication; d) to apply a holistic approach to treatment; e) to establish the level and the nature of clients' substance use.

Task 3. Say what competencies and personal qualities are required to help addicts get back on track/recover using the information from the text, e. g.

Task 4. Complete the sentences below speaking about the responsibilities of addiction social workers translating the words in brackets. Mind the pattern:

Problems: withdrawal syndrome; denial; depression; weight loss, paranoia; diabetes; breakdown of relationships; respiratory problems; memory loss; fluctuating mood states; non-compliance/non-adherence.

Team members: psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed counselors, nurses, physicians.

Task 6. Use the information from the text to name all the settings in which addiction social workers can work.
