2. Read the text and translate it: marking of goods
The correct freight marking is an essential condition of the fast delivery and quality assurance of goods. The marking should contain distinctive text and additional necessary signs. The text indicates the name of the recipient and the place of destination.
The additional signs include the following information: package mass, gross and net in kilograms, the size of the package (the length, width and height), and the name of the sender and of the departure place, amount of cargo, serial number, and warning signs. The warning signs indicate the correct way to deal with goods. The following inscriptions may be used: "cautiously fragile!"; "hooks directly do not take "; " up, handle with care "; " afraid heating "; "place of slinging"; "afraid of dampness", the "center gravity "; " hermetically sealed container ";" afraid of radiation " .
When transporting cargo on covered rolling stock marking packaging may be paper, cardboard or plywood labels. In the case of long-term storage of cargo marking is allowed to apply directly to the container. When transporting cargo on open wagons or sea transport it should be clearly marked on the container or on metal labels. Marking by hand is not allowed. In this case, black lacquer and enamel of respective brands are recommended for marking.
Nowadays, a number of technical devices are used for labeling of goods. Among them is LSR/1000 system. It allows a contactless method of applying a large font for labeling and coding of packing. The device Laser mark also provides labeling of packaged freight by a fundamentally new method, without the use of colouring agents. The laser marking device may be used in the food, chemical and other industries.
Marking of goods for export should be made in accordance with the model and in the language specified in the purchase order. When exporting goods in tropical performing, a red paint letter "T" and a packing date in a circle should be applied to containers. The packing date should be written as a fraction: the numerator indicates a month and the denominator indicates a year. Sign size of "T" is 50 mm and the digits indicating month and year are 30 mm. Marking and labeling of dangerous goods such as combustible and flammable materials, gases and liquids and toxic substances are made in accordance with Dangerous Goods Transportation Regulations for each mode of transport.
