Our future profession

We are cadets of the Academy of Fire Safety. We are future officers of Civil Protection Service. Our profession is noble and useful for the society, though it is rather dangerous. Every day firefighters risk their lives and save people trapped in different emergency situations.

It is very interesting to study at our Academy. During our junior courses we learn such academic subjects as History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Ukrainian, English and Physical Training. Cadets of senior courses enter the specialized fire science curriculum. It includes fire tactics, fire prevention, monitoring and civil protection, inspection techniques and procedures, emergency medicine and communication systems.

Our profession requires much training and practical exercises. We have practice in firefighting and rescue units. Our instructors show us how to operate fire extinguishers, ladders, hoses, nozzles. It is necessary to know their construction, specifications, cleaning, inspecting and repairing techniques. Firefighters often deal with toxic and flammable chemicals, they respond to emergency incidents in smoky, gaseous and heated areas. That is why such items of firefighting clothes as firefighting suits, helmets, gloves and protective breathing apparatus are important for our future work.

In order to develop professionally it is necessary for us to have close relationships with cadets and their officers of Kharkiv University of Civil Protection and Lviv State University of Vital Activity Safety. We exchange our experience, share new firefighting and rescue technologies learned from both failure and success. Our mutual cooperation is very fruitful and helps us to master our future profession.
