III. B. All, whole, everything

Everything was fine. Всё было хорошо.

Обычно слово all не выступает самостоятельно в предложении:AllIcan- Все, что я могу;Allshedreamsof- Все, о чем она мечтает;allabout - всё о

I read all about their wedding in the newspapers. Я прочел всё о их свадьбе в газетах.

Whole обычно стоит перед существительным в единственном числе, а перед ним притяжательные местоимения(my, his, etc.)или артикльthe: Haveyouread the whole article(всю статью)?

Если употребляется all, то сначала мы должны поставитьall, затем артикль перед существительным: allthebook(вся книга).

III. C. Translate the sentences

1. In my family we are all tall. 2. Both of us are very tall. 3. We all wear glasses. 4. Both sisters are pretty. 5. They both like music. 6. Both Mr Brown and Paul are dark. 7. IV. A. Practise the dialogue

Travel agent:Can I help you?

Mr Brown:We’d like to arrange our holidays.

Travel agent:Have you got anything special in mind?

Mr Brown:We are thinking of visiting Italy or Spain.

Travel agent:I think I’ve got a very attractive offer for you. It’s in Spain, in

Mr Brown: That’s wonderful. How long does it take to get there?

Travel agent: It depends on the way you travel. You can go there by plane and then the flight only takes two hours. But it’s cheaper to travel by coach, and then it takes eight hours. It is also possible to go by train: it’s not as expensive as a plane and the journey is shorter than by coach.

Mrs Brown: I like going by train, it’s the safest way of travelling. But do we have to change?

Travel agent: No, it’s a through train, nonstop all the way.

Mrs Brown:What about the insurance?

Costa Brava, in a hotel near the sea. You get seven nights full board for £170.

Mr Brown:That sounds very reasonable, but isn’t it a crowded place in summer?

Travel agent:This hotel is in a small

village and there aren’t many tourists.

Mrs Brown:Darling, this trip is wonderful. Let’s book the tickets in advance.

Travel agent:It’s included in the price.

Mr Brown: Certainly.

b) - Could you book me a flight to Pskov in a couple of days?

- Certainly, Sir. Would you prefer first class, business or economy class?

- Business class, please. Do you happen to know when the flights are?

- There’s a morning and an evening flight, Sir. Which do you prefer?

- I’d rather have a morning flight if possible.

- I’ll call up and see what they can offer.
