though, although – хотя + clause (предложение)

despite, in spite of – несмотря на + Noun, Gerund

Though it was cold, they went for a walk – Хотя было холодно, они пошли на прогулку

They went for a walk in spite of being cold – Они пошли на прогулку несмотря на холод

Despite the high cost, they bought the tickets = Though the tickets were expensive, they bought them (Though the cost was high, they bought the tickets)

Despite his being here, I haven't seen him – Несмотря на то, что он здесь, я его не видел

because – потому что + clause (предложение)

because of – потому что + Noun, Gerund

They stayed at home because the weather was bad – Они остались дома, потому что погода была плохая

They stayed at home because of bad weather – Они остались дома из-за плохой погоды

so – такая + Adjective, Adverb (no noun, few, little, many, much)

such – такая + Noun

The book is so interesting – This is such an interesting book

Перевод русского «ещё»

1) more + Numerals, some, any, no

Give me one more book – Дайте мне еще одну книгу

2) yet – еще не

He hasn’t come yet – Он еще не пришел

3) else (with questions and words with -one, -body, -thing)

What else do you know? – Что Вы еще знаете?

Someone else said it – Кто-то еще это сказал

4) still – все еще

We are still writing – Мы все еще пишем

Перевод русского «больше не»

Any longer, any more – в конце отрицательного предложения

No longer (= used to do) – в середине предложения

He doesn’t live here any longer	Он больше не живет здесь

He no longer lives here
He used to live here

Перевод английского «AS»

1) так как, когда - в начале предложения

As it rained we stayed at home - Так как был дождь, мы остались дома

We were glad as he came - Мы были рады, когда они пришел

2) как, в качестве – перед существительным

He works as a teacher – Он работает в качестве учителя

(like – подобно: The girl talks with her little sister like a teacher)

Negative Conjunctions

hardly, barely, scarcely = almost nothing – почти ничего

He knows hardly any words in English – Он почти не знает английских слов

rarely, seldom, hardly ever = almost never – почти никогда

They hardly ever come here – Они почти никогда сюда не приходят

Перевод английского «-ever»

бы ни: whatever – что бы ни; whoever – кто бы ни; wherever – где бы ни.

I’ll go there whatever you say – Я пойду туда, чтобы Вы не говорили.
