Defining a Project Header

Project headers can be used to provide an overall description of a project. The project header is displayed at the top of the Hardware Architecture view of the Configuration editor.

To view or define a project header

1. Ensure the Hardware Architecture view is displayed by choosing the Hardware Architecture option from the View menu.

2. From the View menu, choose View Header.

The project header window appears above the workspace.

Text can then be typed into the project header. Different formatting styles can be applied to the text and paragraphs in the header using the Format toolbar. If the toolbar is not displayed make sure the Format Toolbar option is selected in the View menu.

To resize the project header window

  • Place the cursor over the border dividing the header and the main Hardware Architecture view, then drag the border to the desired location.

Nodes

Within SYPT each target drive is represented as a node. In the case of Unidrive SP, each SM-Applications or SM-Applications Lite option fitted to the drive is also represented as a node in the Configuration Editor. The following properties can be specified for nodes:

You can perform the following tasks when managing nodes in projects:

  • Inserting Nodes

  • Selecting Nodes

  • Deleting Nodes

  • Cutting, Copying, and Pasting Nodes

  • Editing the Properties of Nodes

Inserting Nodes

Nodes are inserted into a project in the Hardware Architecture view of the Configuration Editor. A completely new node can be inserted or an existing node can be copied or cut and pasted.

To insert a node:

Do one of the following:

The Properties window appears.

1. Select a drive from the Drive /Target section, e.g. Unidrive/ UD7X.

2. If the node is to be connected to a network specify the network type and the node address. If a suitable network is not defined in the project, pressing the Add Network button allows a new network to be defined.

3. For programmable drives/ targets, enter the program identification information.

4. Click OK.

The node is inserted into the project.

Note:

If a Unidrive SP is selected in the Drive/ target field, the properties dialog will show three extra tabs allowing the properties of the options in slots 1, 2 and 3 of the Unidrive SP to be defined. By selecting the appropriate tab the Unidrive SP can be configured to have SM-Applications or SM-Applications Lite options fitted. By default, when a Unidrive SP node is inserted an SM-Applications option is fitted in slot 3.

Selecting Nodes

A node needs to be selected before performing an operation on the node. Nodes can be selected in either the Hardware Architecture or Link Architecture views.

To select a node in the Hardware Architecture view

  • Click on the node.

The selected node appears with a blue background.

This example shows a Unidrive SP selected in the Hardware Architecture view:

This Unidrive SP and its options can be selected as independent nodes. The following shows the SM-Applications option in slot 3 on the Unidrive SP as selected.

To select a node in the Link Architecture view

  • Click on the node.

The selected node appears with a blue background.

This example shows a Unidrive Classic selected in the Link Architecture view.

This example shows an SM-Applications option selected in slot 3 of Unidrive SP. The Unidrive SP is node 3 on the CT-RTU network in the project (as shown by the text Node_3 above the three option slots). The SM Applications option is node 3 on network CTNet0.
