_______________________________________________________________________________________________ Accessing Diagnostic Information for Nodes

While in on-line mode, you can access diagnostic information for nodes with CTNet capability.

To access diagnostic information for a node

You can access diagnostic information for a node from either the Configuration Editor or DPL Editor.

1. Do one of the following:

  • In the Hardware Architecture view, select the node for which to access diagnostic information.

  • In the DPL Editor's program browser, select the DPL program of the node for which to access diagnostic information.

2. From the Project menu, choose Diagnostic.

The Node Diagnostics window appears displaying the diagnostic information for the selected node and the status of the network to which the node is connected.

For a description of the CTNet Diagnostics see the CTNet User Guide.

From the Node Diagnostic window, you can also choose to access identification information for nodes by pressing the Identify button.

Accessing Identification Information for Nodes

While in on-line mode, you can access identification information for a node. This identification information appears in two columns: Projected and Detected. The Projected column shows the identity of the node within the project, i.e. its details held on the PC; the Detected column shows the node details read from the physical target.

2. From the Project menu, choose Identify.

The Identify Node window appears showing the projected and detected node details.

From the Identify Node window, you can also choose to access diagnostic information for the CTNet network to which the node is connected by pressing the Diagnostic button.

Monitoring the Values of Variables and Parameters

While in on-line mode, you can monitor, the changes in value of variables and parameters in either the DPL editor or the Watch Window.

Within the Watch Window you can choose to display the changes in value numerically and graphically (in an oscilloscope type fashion) or in bitfield format.

The Watch Window can be used to monitor a list of variables or parameters on multiple nodes when online. A watch list can be saved into a watch file on disk so that the same list can be easily reloaded for watching if SYPT is closed and reopened.

When monitoring the values of variables or parameters, you can perform the following tasks:

  • Watching Values in the DPL Editor

  • Setting Up a Watch List

  • Opening and Closing Watch Lists

  • Saving Watch Lists

  • Adding Variables and Parameters to a Watch List

  • Selecting Watch List Items

  • Cutting, Copying, and Pasting Watch List Items

  • Removing Items from a Watch List

  • Editing the Properties of Watch List Items

  • Rearranging the Order of Watch List Items
