Deleting Data Links

Deleting a data link will also remove the cyclic data register definitions for the link.

To delete a data link

1. In the Link Architecture view, select the data link to remove by clicking on it with the mouse.

2. From the Edit menu, choose Delete.

The data link is deleted.

Editing Source/Destination Node Descriptions

You can include descriptions for the source node and destination node.

To view or edit the source/destination node description

1. Select the node in the Hardware Architecture or Link Architecture views.

2. From the Edit menu, choose Node Description.

The Edit Description window appears.

3. Enter the required text and press OK.

Annotations

Annotations can be used to include textual descriptions in the Hardware Architecture view.

You can perform the following tasks when managing annotations:

  • Inserting Annotations

  • Editing the Contents of Annotations

  • Formatting Text in Annotations

  • Deleting Annotations

Inserting Annotations

You can insert annotations to the left of any node in the Hardware Architecture view with the exception of the PC node.

To insert an annotation

1. Select a node or the new node hotspot at the end of a rail.

2. From the Insert menu, choose Annotation.

An annotation is inserted. The following example shows a new annotation inserted between nodes 1 and 3.

Editing the Contents of Annotations

To edit the contents of an annotation

1. Double-click on the annotation.

The annotation changes into an editable text box.

2. Make the necessary changes.

When you have finished editing, click anywhere on the configuration area outside of the annotation to save the changes or press ESCAPE to discard the changes.

Formatting Text in Annotations

When formatting text in annotations, you can change the font, style, size, colour, and justification of a selected annotation.

Note:

It is not possible to change the format of part of the text in an annotation. If a new format is chosen, the format applies to the whole of the text in the selected annotation, e.g. all the text in an annotation can be made bold or underlined.

To format text in annotations

1. Select the annotation to format by clicking on it with the mouse.

2. On the Format toolbar, make the necessary changes.

The annotation text is formatted with the applied changes.

The following example shows different text formatting applied to different annotations in the Hardware Architecture view.
