IX. Translate the following sentences into English.
Преступления, связанные с употреблением или ввозом наркотиков, наносят неумолимый урон государству. Фонды опустошаются, так как реанимационные палаты забиты людьми, страдающими от наркотической зависимости. Кроме того, наркотики «разжигают» рост преступности среди подростков, склонных к насилию.
Любое, даже незначительное улучшение в борьбе с наркотиками дается «большой кровью». Погибают невинные люди, случайно попавшие в перестрелку из движущихся автомобилей. Сотни подростков замешаны в связи с преступными группировками и картелями. Кровавая бойня за контролирование определенных территорий вынуждает полицейских ставить свои жизни на карту, поскольку их долг – предоставление защиты от насилия и беспорядков.
Многие водители садятся за руль, будучи «под кайфом», подвергая таким образом себя двойной опасности. Они рискуют причинить увечья и себе, и другим людям, находящимся на дороге (roadusers).
В одном из притонов наркобизнеса полицией был перехвачен большой груз героина и марихуаны. Также был захвачен тайник с оружием, пейджерами и списками номеров сотовых телефонов главарей мафии.
Вопрос о том, как снизить уровень преступности, остается открытым. Облавы, аресты, полицейские чистки и заключение под стражу не сокращают число нераскрытых преступлений, связанных с наркотиками. Говорить об ощутимом спаде преступности еще рано, хотя об этом трубят в некоторых штатах Америки. В других штатах, охваченных разгулом криминального наркобизнеса, поднимается вопрос о легализации наркотиков, что явится новой прелюдией к зловещей эпидемии наркотиков и преступности.
Многие города насыщены/завалены смертельной отравой. Ужасное пристрастие толкает людей всех возрастов на чудовищные злодеяние: они грабят, устраивают разбой, угоняют машины, продают детей в рабство. Чтобы достать легко приобретаемую очередную дозу для подержания своей зависимости, они готовы на все. Как их остановить? Упрятывать их в тюрьмы или запугивать их ими? Вероломное и пагубное действие гнездящегося пристрастия налицо, поэтому и возникает такое ощущение, что проблема расцвета наркотиков и преступности неразрешима на данный момент.
Начальники многих тюрем в Америке приводят печальные примеры криминальной статистики, говоря о том, что большинство преступлений связано с продажей и употреблением наркотиков.
Уровень преступности продолжает постепенно возрастать во многих странах; довольно большое число преступлений остается нераскрытыми.
Заключенный пытался совершить побег (tobreakoutofprison), но был застрелен охраной с башенного поста после второго предупреждения.
Школы тоже стали жертвами расцвета преступности. Их теперь приходится трансформировать и устанавливать датчики по определению наличия металла.
Расцвет наркобизнеса охватил многие европейские страны и продолжает опустошать их казну.
Обеспеченные люди покидают городские трущобы, где царят грабежи, вооруженные нападения, поджоги, угон транспортных средств и издевательство над детьми.
Волна преступности блокирует работу правоохранительных органов. Должностные лица подкуплены, денежные фонды утекают, общественное доверие подрывается.
Коварный результат пристрастия к наркотикам налицо: дельцы «всучивают» снадобье подросткам, разжигают гонку вооружений. Словом, ставки огромные и устрашающие.
Тюрьмы переполнены. Только в прошлом году правоохранительными органами Америки было задержано 90 тысяч торговцев наркотиками и оружием.
На фоне этой мрачной картины больницы тоже стали жертвами наркобизнеса. Реанимационные палаты переполнены угасающими наркоманами.
Обескураженные и убитые горем родители порой боятся отпускать детей в школу, зная, что на каждом углу им могут предложить смертельное снадобье: кокаин, героин, марихуану, ЛСД.
