IV. Read and translate the text with a dictionary: тне academy of the federal penal service of russia
I study at the Academy of Law and Management of the Federal Penal Service of the Russian Federation. It was opened in 1970. It trains specialists for corrections. There are three main departments at our Academy now: law, economics and psychology. The Academy offers a 5 –year graduate course and post –graduate courses. It also admits students for correspondence study.
The students of our Academy have all conditions for getting a good education. Among the teaching staff there are well –qualified, competent Doctors of Law, Candidates of Sciences. Teaching is maintained at a high level. There are many specially equipped laboratories, lecture –halls and libraries which are effective for proper training.
The academic year begins in September. It lasts for ten months and ends in June. There are two terms in the course of the academic year. So students take exams twice a year. After exams they have summer and winter vacation.
Attendance of all lectures and tutorials is obligatory for all the students/ The working day of our students begins at 8.30a.m. and is over at 7 p.m. To become good specialists our students must get knowledge of many sciences. Law students study History of State and Law, Criminal Law, Criminology, Criminalistics, Criminal Procedure, Penal Law, Detective Activities and so on. Students of economics study History of economics, Higher Mathematics, Information Science, Management, Marketing and others. Students of the Psychology Department study Psychology, Biology, Physiology, etc. Such subjects as Philosophy and foreign language are compulsory for all departments. Much attention is paid to athletics and combat training at our Academy.
The social life of the Academy is characterized by the existence of a number of students’ societies and clubs, which are organized by the undergraduates themselves. Students take part in the work of students’ scientific societies . They take part in the work of scientific conferences at our Academy and in other educational establishments.
