For – to express duration Since – to state a starting point
Past Perfect Continuous (had +been + V-ing)	He said he had been working since 5 o’clock. She had been reading the book for two hours when I came. I had been working for a long time when my brother came. It had been raining for two hours when I left home. We felt tired as we had been playing football for several hours. They had been writing a test for an hour when the director came.
Time expressions used with the Past Perfect Continuous: for two hours, for three months, for a long time, when he came, etc.
Future Perfect Continuous (shall / will + have +been + + V-ing)	By the 1 of June 2010, he will have been working at the University for twenty years. When you return home at 5 o’clock, I shall have been writing for seven hours. They will be writing the composition for an hour when you come. It is two o’clock now, and I have been working already for three hours; at 5 o’clock I shall have been working for six hours.
Time expressions used with the Past Perfect Continuous: when you return, by the 7 of May, for two hours, etc.
