2.2 Термины

2.2.1 Методы перевода терминов

Термины – это слова или словосочетания, которые имеют специальное, определенное значение в той или иной области науки и техники. Термины нужно всегда рассматривать в данном контексте т.е. в смысловом окружении, в котором встречается данное слово. Перевод терминов должен быть как точным, так и по возможности кратким. Эти два противоречивых требования приводят к тому, что для перевода используются различные приемы и методы. Кроме этого, следует учитывать, что на практике возникли устойчивые терминологические формы перевода, изменять которые не рекомендуется. Среди методов перевода научно-технической терминологии можно выделить следующие.

1. Перевод с помощью слов, не связанных непосредственно с данным английским словом, но отражающих функциональный смысл терминов. В этом случае одному английскому слову может соответствовать несколько слов в русском языке, например:

52. Калькирование, или дословный перевод, состоит в переводе английского слова или выражения путем точного воспроизведения их средствами русского языка, например:

54. Транскрибирование – это передача произношения английского слова русскими буквами (особенно это касается названий): Microsoft – Майкрософт, Ethernet – Эзернет. Такая передача до некоторой степени условна, так как передает только приблизительное звучание английского слова, что объясняется разницей фонетических систем английского и русского языков.

55. Для перевода английских слов, не имеющих лексических соответствий в русском языке, можно использовать описательный перевод. Он представляет собой передачу значения английского слова при помощи более или менее распространенного объяснения. Например, firmware – программы, записанные в ПЗУ; hardware – аппаратное обеспечение; netware – сетевое обеспечение; software – программное обеспечение, standard performance – уровень производительности, необходимый для выполнения задания за время, установленное по норме.
