Continuous Forms with "Always"

Exercise 107

"Always"is used withthe Presentor the Past Continuousfor repeated actions.

A:expressing annoyance, anger or criticism.

Example:

  • When I was a child, my sister __________ (tease) me.

  • When I was a child, my sister was always teasingme.

  1. He is a really miserable man. He __________ (complain) about something.

  2. Simon is very untidy. He __________ (leave) his clothes lying on the

bathroom floor.

  1. When we were children, my brother was bigger than me and he __________ (hit) me.

  2. My sister really makes me angry. She __________ (borrow) my things

without asking me.

  1. - Oh, I've left the lights on again.

- Typical! You __________ (leave) the lights on.

unplanned.

Assume you have a roommate named Jack who has many bad habits. These bad habits annoy you. Pretend you are speaking to a friend and complaining about Jack. Use the Present Continuous. Usealways,constantlyorforeverin each sentence. Say your sentence aloud with some annoyance, or anger in your voice.

Here is a list of some of Jack's bad habits:

  1. He messes up the kitchen. He's always messing up the kitchen.

  2. He leaves his dirty dishes on the table.

  3. He borrows my clothes without asking me.

  4. He brags about himself.

  5. He tries to show me that he's smarter than me.

  6. He cracks his knuckles while I'm trying to study.

  7. I like fresh air and I like to have the windows open, but he closes the windows.
