Exercise 2

Make questions and give short answers. Use both British English (B.E.) and American English (A.E.) patterns.

Example:

  • They have a garden.

  • Have they a garden?

  • Yes, they have. / No, they haven’t.

A.E.

  • Do they have a garden?

  • Yes, they do. / No, they don’t.

  1. Squirrels have tails.

  4. A man’s hand has a thumb, an index finger, a middle finger, a ring finger

and a little finger.

  2. Some parents have problems with their kids.

11. These company employees have lunch in the nearest cafe.

Exercise 3

Make sentences negative. Use haven’t / don’t have, hasn’t / doesn’t have or no.

Example:

  • She has a computer.

  • She hasn’t a computer.

  • She doesn’t have a computer.

  • She has no computer.

Exercise 4

Write no instead of not. Mind the use of the article.

Example:

  • They haven’t a house.

  • They have no house.

  5. You don’t have cornflakes for breakfast.

Exercise 5

Write hasn’t a / doesn’t have a or haven’t a / don’t have a.

Example:

  • We have no radio.

  • We haven’t a radio.

  • We don’t have a radio.
