More mysterious things happened in Gulf Breeze ten years later. Mr. Alan Rogers told the Gulf Breeze Daily News what had happened on the night of 11 November 1987.
Put the verbs in the Past Indefinite or the Past Continuos.
I was sitting (sit) at home, having dinner with my wife when suddenly our cat, Toto, flew across the room.

Work with a partner. Write the first part of a sentence using the Past continuous + when on a piece of paper, like this:
I was walking down the street when …
Fold the paper so that the first part of the sentence is at the back, like this:
Exchange papers with your partner. Don't read what's on the paper! Write the second part of the sentence using suddenly + Past Indefinite, like this:
… suddenly I saw a dragon driving a car.
Now read out two parts of the sentence to the class.
I was playing tennis when suddenly the sky went purple.
I was doing my homework when suddenly I saw a green monster.
