Text A ABOUT MYSELF
L et me introduce myself. My name is Natalie. I am seventeen.
My family lives in a small town of Stavropol region. My father is a pharmaceutist; he works at a chemist shop. My mother is a teacher of biology. She also has much work to do about the house. We are four in the family. I have an elder brother and a younger sister. My brother, Sasha, is a businessman. His wife, Olga, is a hairdresser. My sister, Dasha, is a schoolgirl. She is in the tenth form and she wants to study at the Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University. She likes English very much.
Our family is very united. We like to spend time together. In the evening we read books and newspapers, listen to music, watch TV or just talk about the events of the day. I also have many other relatives: uncles, aunts and cousins.
I like animals and I have got a cat and a dog at home. I take care of my pets feeding them. The cat’s name is Lizzi and Dick is a sheep dog. I go for a walk with my dog twice a day and I do it with pleasure.
Now I live far from my family. This year I left the secondary school and entered the Pyatigorsk State Pharmaceutical Academy because I chose pharmacy as my future specialty long ago. I think it is a very noble profession. I want to help people who had problems with health. My favourite subjects at school were chemistry and biology. I always did well at school and learned with great interest. Besides, my father often tells me about his profession. So, I passed competitive entrance examinations in chemistry, biology and literature. It was not very difficult for me to cope with the entrance examinations. I got the highest marks and was admitted to the Academy.
I am a first-year student now and like many other students I live in a hostel and get grants. It is difficult but very interesting to study at our Academy, because we have classes and lectures in different subjects, such as inorganic chemistry, botany, physiology, mathematics, physics, Latin, etc. It takes much time to prepare for our classes; I usually do it in the reading-hall. I try to learn as much as possible in chemistry and biology, because I consider them to be the most important subjects for future pharmaceutists.
I am sure that sport plays a great role in our life. It makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. Students of our higher school have all the opportunities to go in for sports. As for me, I am good at volleyball.
Students’ life is very interesting and exciting. Now I understand why my parents often call it the best period in one’s life. We are all good friends in our group, we often go for a walk, discuss some serious questions, celebrate our birthdays. Our teachers are exacting but fair. They often help us in our academic and research work. I like our Academy and hope to be a good student and to become a good specialist.
